LONDON BRIDGE

At Motphran a bridge on dry river
Constructed, the reason unknown whatsoever,
Many but became rich, for this I am sure
But who bothers it is government expenditure.

The result no one had used it so far
Because it proved a longer route to Mawkhar,
But as many dark clouds have a silver lining
Lots of second-hand clothes shops in it did spring.

What then a blessing for you and me
When overcoats and jackets one got for few a rupee,
Clothes that keep poor people like us warm,
So that the cruel winter could do no harm.

In spite of all this there are so so many
Who are ashamed of their financial capacity,
“Oh!” I said, “what a lovely jacket you had put on?”,
“Oh! My aunt brought it brand new from London”.

London, New York, Tokyo name any city you know
One day you’ll never hide it, for it was so,
For when I met at over-bridge that man whose aunt came from London
He blushed red, ran away what a fun!

Over-bridge may you live very long
So that we can sing with a lovely song,
There is a bridge over Dry River
That had helped many of us and the pensioner.
