Musical night at Meghalaya House, Delhi

The Delhi A’chik Youth Association (DAYA) organised the first Musical night on 27th March 2010 at Meghalaya House, 9 Aurangzeb Road New Delhi, the Music was followed by rich and colourful traditional attire show of Garo, Khasi and Jaintia couples In a pleasant evening the gathering was welcomed by The President Shri Roger Benny A Sangma, the aims and objective of the programme was introduced by the President. The whole event was hosted by Shri Raymond Shira and Ms Jovita Marak, Various students from Jawaharlal Nehru University, Delhi University, students organisation, foreigners and working professionals attended the programme, The opening song “ oh angni Garo Hills” was presented by Lobith A Sangma followed by band of girls known as Skinny boys, The crowd was amaze to see the great performance by Sacrilege band which was formed recently, apart from music delicious local cuisine sticky rice (minil) with green chicken curry (do’o kapa) were also served during the show, the successful event was closed by the General Secretary Ms Dillina K Marak by her words of vote of thanks.

The DAYA finds it very prudent and rational to introduce and encourage the young Musicians from Meghalaya and North East India to display their talent and skills in the national capital. Since Delhi is a multi cultural city from different state, different community and from different walks of life it will helps us to build a community within one another. It gives us immense joy and pleasure to expose our rich culture and tradition and to give awareness to the young generation in order to preserve and learn about our culture. The DAYA would also like to take this opportunity to thank all the people who had supported for the good cause of the society.
