Wine Festival
Surprisingly not much was written about it in the columns. Perhaps the weather conditions (it rained on that day) played spoilsport on the occasion. despite all that everyone who was there thoroughly enjoyed themselves. wine making has improved in leaps and bounds in the last few years and the number of participants has increased. the best part of the function was that the locals genuinely make fruit wine and thats something pretty rare. the distinction between manufactured wine and home made wine came out clearly on that day. cheers to home made wine. shillongite could do a lot more to encourage this hobby. i do feel that taking the home made wine processess to the villages and insisting on hygiene could promote rural tourism esp in the Mawlynnong village. others could pick up the same habit and soon we'd have a different Khasi Hills scenario. Anyone interested in this idea could get in touch with me to make this a reality.
