Rudrasagar Lake

It is identified as one of the wetlands of National importance for conservation and sustainability, Rudrasagar Lake is a big attraction for tourists all over the world. The Lake is located in the Sipahijala district. The beauty of the place is enchanted more by the palace lake 'Neer Mahal' (meaning Water Palace) built in the center of the the lake, it provides a picturesque fairytale set up. It wasbuilt as summer capital in 1930 A.D by Maharaja Bir Kishore Maikya. This Mughal specimen of architecture with the amulgamation of Hindu and Muslim architecture holds the hearts of its visitors.It is the largest of its kind in India. The western part is called the Andar Mahal, which was only reserved for the royal class. Whereas the eastern side included an open theatre, dance and cultural events.

Rudrasagar Lake is also know as 'Rudijala'. It serves as the home to a number of migratory birds every winter. The tourists visiting the Lake from November to January witnesses a number of rare species of birds including Barr's Pochand and Ferreiginous Duck which are the list of  being endangered. This lake brings the biodiversity under same roof.
 
Every year a boat race is organized which is one of the main attractions during July/August. So, whether you visit in summers or winters this place will make your visit memorable. The boating facilities of the lake aims to take you further deep inside the dream like atmosphere of the Lake.
 
It is a natural sedimentation reservoir of three perennial steams namely Noa Cherra, Dulavnaraya Cherra and Kemtali Cherra. The Rudrasagar Lake has no rock formation and is purely silt. It suffers from flood peaks during June to September. So, if you ever visit this lake (which you definitely must do)  make sure you plan the trip well to enjoy the beauty of the place to its fullest.
