SHILLONG: In a huge boost for National Peoples’ Party in the changing pre poll political scenario, seven or right sitting legislators in Meghalaya are believed to have been preparing to join the party on January 4.
The party is holding a huge rally on that day at the Polo Ground where five MLAs from Congress along with three others are set to join the party. These sitting legislators held detailed talks with NPP leadership and finalized their decision.
They include Prestone Tynsong, Rowell Lyngdoh, Ngairlang Dhar, Comingone Yumbun and Sniawblang Dhar from Congress who are set to join NPP in the rally.
The remaining three are Stephenson Mukhim and Hopeful Bamon, who are independent MLAs while UDP is losing Remington Pyngeope.
Congress leaders are tightlipped on the development ad thr grand old party is gearing up to retain the power for the third consecutive terms.
