Setback for Meghalaya BJP

SHILLONG: Meghalaya BJP receives a huge setback in the Jaintia Hills district hardly a month ahead of the assembly polls when many BJP leaders ad workers have left the party on Thursday and Friday.

Local BJP workers told Shillong.com that they are very disappointed to have learnt that at Khliehriat in East Jaintia Hills the party has denied ticket to sitting MDC, Violet Lyngdoh.

“We are resigning from the party since our leader is denied ticket. She is the sister the State BJP president and has good chance from Khliehriat,” said one of her supporters.

Lyngdoh contested the last District Council polls from the UDP before joining the saffron party to be elected as an MDC.

She formed 46 boot level bodies who will support her in the Assembly election. But these workers have left the party minutes she was denied ticket.

BJP has allotted ticket to sitting MLA, Justine Dkhar who had resigned from the Assembly last month.
