The Barail Mountain Range is a watershed between the Brahmaputra and Barak rivers. Stretching from the South Naga hills to parts of North Cachar Hills, It forms a diverse ecosystems of the region.  It has a rich flora and fauna with mystique hills and landscapes which interests visitor for wildlife and adventures.

DIMAPUR – KOHIMA – JAPFU – KIGWEMA – KHONOMA – DZUKOU – DZULEKIE – BENREU - JORHAT

DAY 1:- DIMAPUR TO KOHIMA (74KM 2-3HRS)
Meet your guide at Dimapur Airport and surface transfer to Kohima. En route we shall stop to have a look at some local market.

DAY 2:- KOHIMA-KIGWEMA-JAPFU BASE (4-5 KM/ 3 HRS TREK)
Today with packed lunch we shall leisurely trek towards Mt. Japfu.
Drive till Pony Farm, Kigwema village which is about 12 km drive. We shall start the trek towards Japfu Base Camp. On the trail enjoy the jhum field where the locals grow different vegetables.
Greater half of the trek is challenging with uneven gradient. The trail with slide rain and more trekkers get slippery.
O/N Tented at Mt. Japfu Base Camp.

DAY 3:- JAPFU BASE-JAPFU PEAK-JAPFU BASE (3-4 HRS TREK)
Mt. Japfu stands at an altitude of 3048 m above   the mean sea level; it is the second highest mountain in Nagaland.
Today we shall mount Japfu with packed lunch and trek to Majestic Mountain which has got to offer to an adventure lover! En route we shall see the world tallest “Rhododendron tree” which stands 109 ft. On getting up to the peak it offer very good view of Kohima town and surrounding villages!
After being mesmerized with the view and nature we shall trek back to Base Camp.
The trail is rough with uneven gradient and challenging.

DAY 4:- JAPFU BSE-KOHIMA(4-5 KMS/ 3 HRS TREK)
Today trek down till Pony Farm Kigwema village. Meet your Car and picnic lunch.
Thereafter we shall visit Kigwema Village, Kisama Or Jakhama village where we shall have better sight of the Naga ways of life.
Later drive to Kohima

DAY 5:- KOHIMA-KHONOMA-BASE CAMP (25KMS/1HR)
We shall start our day with Local Market where organic vegetables, rare eatable insects are sold
Next visit World War Cemetery.
Later drive to Khonoma village, Local lunch on arrival.
Post-lunch explore the village, we shall meet local craftsman who got nation award in cane basket making, ceremonial gates, morung, age group house, etc.
Next drive through the Jhum field where the locals practice Alder based cultivation.
O/N Seikhakie, Base Camp (Tented/Log Cabin).

DAY 6:- BASE CAMP-DZUKOU (6-7 KMS/ 3/4HRS TREK)
With paced lunch we shall trek to Dzukou valley which is being regarded as trekkers’ paradise, eternal charm by visitor. Dzukou valley stands at the altitude of 2438 m above sea level.
As we are trekking through “Khonoma Conservation & Tragopan Sanctuary” we have high chance of spotting Byth’s Tragopan, a rare pheasant family.
The trail is challenging with uneven steps at some part and no steps!

DAY 7:- DZUKOU-DZULEKIE (7-8KMS/ ¾ HRS TREK)
We shall trek down towards Dzulekie village, with light lunch. Meet your Car and drive down to Dzulekie, lunch on arrival.

DAY 8:- DZULEKIE-BENREU (TREK)
Today you have the option to hike from Dzulekie to Poilwa village which will take 2 hours or so. Lunch at Poilwa village and hike further to Benreu village which will take3/4 hrs to hike.
OR
Have some leisure at Dzulekie, take a walk around the village as the village is surrounded by nature. Later we can go Traditional Fishing with some local youth and picnic lunch by the river side. Later drive for 30kms/2hrs to Benreu village.

DAY 9:- BENREU
Either spend a relatively relaxing day exploring the village, enjoying the sun and admiring the staggering view or for the energetic a climb of Mt PAUNA can be arranged, this is the 3nd highest mountain in Nagaland. The climb is not technical, it is just quite steep! The trek is 3 hrs each way.

DAY 10:- BENREU- PEDI- DIMAPUR
The route today drops down through more lush jungle to a small stream before a steep climb to the village of Pedi. The trek from Benreu to Pedi village takes 3 hrs or so! The vehicles will meet you in Pedi for the drive to Dimapur (3 hrs).

Today connect your flight for onward journey.

DAY 3:- KOHIMA-  KHONOMA.(1 HR)
Morning drive to Khonoma village and explore the village, meet local craftsmen, visit ceremonial gates, age group house.
In the evening we shall witness some important indigenous games.

DAY 4:- KHONOMA- DZULEKIE
The trek starts from the village along the ‘old road’ through a forest of Alder trees. You shall also see Mithun, the state animal and you will have the opportunity to feed them with salt!  Catch your vehicles later and continue along the dirt track to Dzuleke.

DAY 5:- DZULEKE- POILWA- BENREU
Long day of trekking through stunning countryside. Morning, trek through the pristine forest of Dzuleke to the village of Poilwa (2 / 3 trek). You have now moved from Angami territory into Zeliang tribal villages. After lunch at Poilwa the trek continues up from the river valley floor & agricultural fields to the hill top of Benreu village, a staggeringly pretty and totally unspoilt Zeliang village.
The trek from Poilwa to Benreu village takes 3/4  hrs trek!

DAY 6:- BENREU
Either spends a relatively relaxing day exploring the village, enjoying the sun and admiring the scenic view or for the tougher ones, a trek to Mt PAUNA can be arranged, this is the 3rd highest mountain in Nagaland. The climb is not technical, it is just quite steep! The trek is 3 hrs each way.

Mt Saramati is the highest mountain in Nagaland. It has an altitude of 3,481 metres above sea level. This mountain forms a natural barrier between Nagaland and Myanmar. The mountain range is covered with rich, natural and diverse forests, visible at various altitudes, ranging from Sub-Tropical Evergreen and Semi Evergreen to Temperate Broad Leaved and Alpine Vegetation.

DAY 1: ARRIVE DIMAPUR – KOHIMA
Fly to Dimapur. Meet on arrival at Dimapur airport and drive (74 km) to Kohima. Depending on the time of arrival, we shall go sightseeing in the evening.
DAY 2: KOHIMA - TUOPHEMA
In the morning visit Viswema and Kigwema village. Afternoon drive to Tuophema. In the evening enjoy cultural dance and folk song at Tuophema Tourist village.
DAY 3: TUOPHEMA - WOKHA - MOKOKCHUNG
Drive to Mokokchung (1325 mts) - the homelanf of Ao Naga Tribe. Enroute visit Longsa Village (of Lotha Naga Tribe) and Longkhim Village (Ao Tribe).
DAY 4: MOKOKCHUNG
Day excursion to Mopungchuket village. This village is the Mission Centre of the Ao Baptist Arogo Mungdang. Visit time pillar and morung at the village.
DAY 5: MOKOKCHUNG - TUENSANG
Drive to reach Tuensang (1371 mt). Enroute visit Longkhim Village (Sangtam Tribe) and some tribal houses.
DAY 6: TUENSANG - KUTHUR - NOKLAK - PANGSHA
Depart for Pangsha. Enroute stop at Noklak village which is famous for Slate roof houses and bamboo handicrafts. Later drive to Pangsha which is on the border of India and Myanmar and a designated international trading centre.
DAY 7: PANGSHA - CHANDANG SADDLE - KIPHIRE
Drive to Kiphire via Nokyan which is another beautiful village interesting to see, especially the wooden utensils made locally. Proceed further to Kiphire.
DAY 8: KIPHIRE - PUNGRO
Morning, visit Kiphire village and different tribal houses around Kiphire. Later drive to Pungro.
DAY 9: PUNGRO – SALUMI - THANAMIR
Drive to Salumi which is famous for its Natural Caves. It is also base for excursion to Fakim Wildlife Sanctuary.
DAY 10: THANAMIR - WATER POINT
Trek about to 4-6 hours to reach the Water Point (10 KM) where you will stay for the night in the camps tented.
DAY 11: WATER POINT - MT. SARAMATI PEAK - WATER POINT
Full day trek to Mt. Saramati peak (3841 M). Trek back to waterpoint for overnight stay.
DAY 12: WATER POINT - THANAMIR - SALUMI - PONGRU
Trek down to Salumi village via Thanamir. From here drive to Pungro village.
DAY 13: PONGRU - KOHIMA
Drive back to Kohima. Enroute stop at Jessami (in Manipur) where Indian Army stopped Japanese Army’s advance for 5 days before the British Army arrived. On arrival check-into hotel for overnight stay.
DAY 14: KOHIMA
Day for leisure and independent activities. Overnight stay in hotel.
DAY 15: KOHIMA - DIMAPUR - DELHI
Morning after breakfast transfer to Dimapur and fly to Delhi.

Song of Siang

Song of Siang

More than two thousand kilometers from its source in eh Tibetan plateau, he Tsang-po river forsakes its arid environs and enters India near Gelling. For the next three hundred kilometers as it passes through the hills of Arunchal Pradesh, it is known as the Siang (The heart of water). In the plains of Assam it meets the Lohit River, and from this union is born the mighty Brahmaputra- the son of God.

The Siang River complements its valley. Sometimes it races through deep gorges, now and then it rumbles through exhilaration rapids. For the most part it flow serenely, n stately splendor, the surrounding hills sloping steeply and deferentially down to its banks.

This valley is home to the Adi people, who live in the hills that line its course, and along its tributaries. Their many sub-tribes are bound together by shared bonds of origin and culture, and by centuries of co-existence. The Adis are a hardworking and cheerful people, who have long learned to live with and respect their environs, the elements and the forest.

This tour is planned to bring to acquaint you with the Adi way of life, and to unveil the splendor of the Siang and its valley.

The Song of Siang:

Day 1     Fly into Dibrugarh, the aircraft skimming over a manicured sea so tea bushes. Afternoon tea- and cucumber sandwiches- at an old style colonial planter’s bungalow.
Day 2 -    Chug along on a ferry on the Brahmaputra- upstream, and hard going. Sandwiches and beer on board. A warm traditional welcome at Pasighat, the gateway to the valley of the Siang,and home to the Adis. Stay at the Siang House, an excellently maintained Government Guest House.
Day 3 -    In and around Pasighat – to the craft centre and the museum. Across the Siang river, and a boat ride away is Mebo, the grainary of the Siang. Visit a Padam village and further on to Aohahi village of Idu Mishmi
Day 4 -    Into the hills, following the right bank of the Siang. Cross a fifteen hundred foot long cane suspension bridge at Pangin, one of many such structures that stretch and sway gracefully across the valley.En route visit Kekar Monying the site of the Anglo-Abor battle of 1911. Then trek to Minyong village of Komsing (3/4 hrs). Overnight at village.
Day 5 -    Follow the Siyom river to Along the home of Adi Gallongs.Visit to villages and cultural programme in the evening.
Day 6 -    Then on to Daporijo. Meet the Hill Miri and Tagin tribes, legendary warriors of yore, and now peaceable farmers., picnic lunch on the river bank. Stay at Daporijo circuit house.
Day 7 -    Onwards to Ziro, in the valley of the Apa Tanis. Spectacularly forested, this is a unique bio-diversity zone,. The Apa Tanis are famed farmers, originators of a distinctive system of mixed paddy and fish cultivation. Stay Blue pine hotel.
Day 8 -    Trek in the Talle valley, returning to a walkabout through an Apa Tani village. Large parts of the Talle valley national park are still unexplored!
Day 9 -    Drive to Itanagar, the capital of Arunachal Pradesh. Enjoy the evening with a live band, a bar, and snooker-preceded of course by a long and luxuriant bath. Stay at the Hotel..
Day 10 -    Drive to Guwahati and fly out to Delhi/Kolkotta..

Day 1: Arrive at Guwahati airport .Board on Helicopter and fly to Itanagar.1 hour. Overnite stay at Hotel.

Day 2: Drive to Ziro. 4 hrs. Ziro is beautiful valley and the home of Apatani tribe. Afternoon visit apatani villages. Evening campfire and cultural evening.

Day 3: Drive to Daporijo. 6 hrs. En route visit Hill Miri and Tagin Villages.Stay at circuit house.

Day 4: Drive to Siyum, the last motorable village before the start of the trek. We cross the Subansiri river after a downhill trek then start climbing to Byaching.

Day 5: Eru Viilage (camp 1) Cultural evening in this remote Tagin village.

Day 6: Rai (camp 2): This is the last village on the right bank of Siver river before we reach Mechuka.

Day 7: Tauwa (camp 3)

Day 8: Pagda (camp 4)

Day 9: Segung (camp 5): In bamboo forest. Teakyok Pass From here we have a magnificient view of Mechuka.

Day 10: Lentak Rida (camp 6)

Day 11: Mechuka. Today, we reach the west siang town of Mechuka which is one of the prettiest valleys in Arunachal, inhabited by Memba tribe.

Day 12: Along.

Day 13: Drive to Pasighat 4 hrs.

Day 14: Ferry down to Dibrugarh.

Day 15: Fly out to Delhi/Kolkotta.
