Shyntor Festival is a three-day music and culture festival in Shyntorbulia, a Khasi village in Ri-Bhoi, Meghalaya. This is the second edition. The first was held in December 2025. This year the festival runs from Thursday 10 to Saturday 12 December 2026.
The village sits where two rivers meet, with the Pamrinai waterfall nearby. It is about 70 km from Guwahati (95 km from Guwahatui Airport) . The festival is organised by Rongjeng Welfare Foundation with the Shyntorbulia Dorbar Shnong (village council).

What to expect
Music
Local bands and artists from Meghalaya, performers from across the North East, and guest artists. Folk, fusion, acoustic and DJ sets. Music runs from the afternoon until midnight. The full programme will be published soon and sent to everyone who books.
Culture and daytime programme
Traditional Khasi music and dance, cultural troupes, handloom and bamboo crafts, village games and sports. An Emerging Artists segment on 10 December gives young musicians from Meghalaya a place on the main stage.
Food
Village food stalls serve vegetarian and non-vegetarian meals, snacks and local dishes through the day. Lunch and dinner are pay-as-you-go.
Camp Shyntor – stay at the festival
Camp Shyntor is a three-night tent package from Thursday 10 to Sunday 13 December 2026. It includes:
- Pickup and drop at Guwahati airport or railway station
- Three nights in an independent tent with mattress, sleeping bag and pillow
- Breakfast on 11, 12 and 13 December
- A Shillong day trip: Umiam Lake, Elephanta Falls, Wards Lake and Police Bazar
- A guided waterfall trek to Pamrinai (about 40 minutes each way)
- Welcome kit, evening bonfire, mobile charging point and a health stall run by a local hospital
Bringing your own tent? You can also camp next to the Umsha river in the village. Contact the organisers for the own-tent option.

Before the festival
The village football tournament, with 16 teams, is played from 3 to 5 December 2026.
Things to know
- Drinking water, toilets and wash areas are set up at the venue.
- Evening bonfires. On clear nights the stars are bright.
- The nearest town for shopping is Nongpoh, 25 km away. Buy essentials in Guwahati on the way.
- Bring warm clothes, a torch, a rain jacket, personal medicines and some cash.
- The terrain is rough and involves some walking. It is not recommended for elderly visitors or people with mobility difficulties.
- The programme is tentative and may change.
Getting there
Shyntorbulia is about 70 km from Guwahati on the road towards Nongpoh, in Ri-Bhoi District. Camp Shyntor guests are picked up from Guwahati. Others can reach Nongpoh by NH6 and continue to the village. The last stretch to the venue is on foot [CONFIRM current distance from the nearest vehicle drop; the old page said 1 km]. In winter the riverbed can be crossed on foot. A footbridge is used in summer.
Performers and artists
Musicians, bands, dancers, poets, storytellers and visual artists are invited to take part. Write to the organisers to register a performance or ask for an art space.
