Red Hill Lokpaching holds a special mention in the war history of Manipur as in this place British fought one of the deciding battles of the World War II. They fought against a combined troupe of the Japanese Army and the Azad Hind Fauz. The second memorial was built on the basis of a Japanese design by subscription from local villagers. There, however, is no translation of the Japanese inscription.
