Red Hill Lokpaching

Red Hill Lokpaching holds a special mention in the war history of Manipur as in this place British fought one of the deciding battles of the World War II. They fought against a combined troupe of the Japanese Army and the Azad Hind Fauz. The Japanese were very close to capturing and destroying the headquarters of the 17th Indian Division, but bombings at Hiroshima and Nagasaki changed everything and thus history was rewritten.
The place is home to two war memorials. First is the India Peace Memorial, which is donated by the Japanese Government and there are three stones at the heart of this memorial that represent ‘British blood’, ‘Indian blood’ and ‘Japanese blood’. The second memorial was built on the basis of a Japanese design by subscription from local villagers. There, however, is no translation of the Japanese inscription.

Red Hill Lokpaching offers a great time of recreation to nature lovers, photo fanatics, history seekers and wanderers. The place is 16 kilometres from Imphal city, the capital of Manipur. Nearest airport is the Tulihal airport, which is located at a distance of 8 kilometres from Red Hill Lokpaching. The Classic Hotel and the Classic Grande are two of the most popular hotels near Red Hill Lokpaching to make ones stay a wonderful experience.
Wars are never good and they seldom leave good memories. But still, years after a war is fought it leaves certain impressions for generations to witness, which tell tales about bravery and sacrifice. Red Hill Lokpaching has been witness to history and is scripted in history books in golden letters. Visiting it once or even more is a worthy experience.
