ISKCON Temple

ISKCON Temple

The International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) Imphal or Sri Sri Radha Krishnacandra Temple is situated at Sangaiporou on the way to the Imphal Tulihal International Airport close to the banks of the River Imphal. It was established by none other than His Holiness, also known as Srila Bhaktisvarupa Damodara Swami Sripad Maharaj.

It is a renowned temple huge in structure devoted to Lord Krishna with a unique architectural style. Thick coating of white cement on the walls of the temple give an impression that the temple is entirely built with marble stone. Dome shaped roof along with paintings portraying the ancient epics and tales of Lord Krishna add to the beauty of the temple. Splendid looking colorful precious stones imported from France are placed near the electric bulbs in the prayer area.

Idols of Lord Krishna, Baladeva and Subhadra are very beautiful as in all the other ISKON temples. The continuous chanting of Hare Rama Hare Krishna can be heard in the temple premises that is well decorated with flowers and colorful lighting during the Janmasthami festival and Rath Yatra that is celebrated annually as Kang and Kanglen. A large number of devotees gather at the temple and chant the hymns for Lord Krishna on festival days. The temple remains open to all from 8:00 am to 8:00 pm on all days.
