SHILLONG: The elimination of Sohan D Shira has ravaged GNLA forcing many disappointed Garo rebels to think of coming overground.
Altogether eight Garo rebels have laid down arms before the church leader on Sunday paving the way for some others to follow the suit.
Identified as Rahul, Burning, Tangkam Handison, KeoberthTembil, Sujit and Chonbat surrendered with big n small weapons before Rev S.T.Sangma who felicitated them for coming overground in Williamnagar East Garo Hills in Meghalaya.
The preachers said, “I must congratulate Rev S.T.Sangma for his dedicated service to the mankind! May God continue to bless him in the days to come!”
The chief of the rebel outfit was eliminated in the run up to the assembly polls hardly a week after NCP candidate in William Nagar Jonathone N Sangma died in an ambush along with his two associates and two security guards.
