TURA: Barring few anomalies, MNREGA implementation has percolated benefit for the rural areas and the people in Meghalaya.
This has come to light during a social audit and public hearing conducted by Meghalaya Society for Social Audit and Transparency, a non governmental organization at Rongara Multi-facility Center, Rongara, South Garo Hills on Wednesday.
Talking to Shillong.com, Prosper Marak, Chairman of Simsang Ecotourism Society, who presided over the event, flanked by resource person Treskina Sangma, said the UPA government’s flagship scheme has been implemented with maximum amount of transparency.
Public hearings suggested a negligible amount of anomalies because of technical snag where the man days are uploaded and recorded.
The social audit and transparency hearing has mentioned some issued to be dealt with on Wednesday. Marak said, “Some rural bodies got 96 days while some others got 98.”
According to him, the blocks having 111 VECs completely conducted social audit within 3 months from December 2017.
