Nongkhnum Island: Where Rivers Cradle Asia's Forgotten

Formed where the Kynshi River splits into two channels that reunite downstream, Nongkhnum is Meghalaya's largest river island — and, at 20–25 square kilometres, Asia's second-largest after Assam's Majuli. It's 14 km from Nongstoin, discovered only in the late 1990s.
